About This Role:
- As an Accounting Associate for the PEAK6 Investments family office team, you will support our day-to-day family office by helping to oversee and organize financial transactions, communicate with accounting and budgeting staff, and prepare financial reports.
- As part of a small team in a dynamic business, tasks may shift as our firm’s priorities change.
- This role will be based out of our Chicago HQ and will work in a hybrid environment.
- We are seeking a detail-oriented individual ready to dedicate themselves to interesting day-to-day financial and operational projects.
- The ideal candidate will do well adapting to shifting priorities and maintaining confidentiality.

You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Accounting for and reporting on daily and monthly cash activity
- Owning month-end close processes such as posting/reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing monthly financial statements, and other accounting/finance responsibilities
- Preparing monthly reporting packages
- Understanding and analyzing expenses and their drivers, with a focus on detailed technology tracking and continually pushing for cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage the payment/reconciliation process across the family office umbrella.
- Processing and tracking employee expense reimbursements
- Assisting the family office team with projects, including ad hoc reporting and analysis, as well as year-end financial reporting
- Driving forward existing processes and helping to create efficiencies by leveraging technology
- Managing several tasks, with the ability to shift between priorities as needed
Your Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, OR an understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping skills.
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Attention to detail with organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to speak up and get your questions answered
- A strong ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate a fast-paced environment
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- Prior family office experience is highly preferred
