1919 Investment Counsel, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corporation, provides investment management and financial planning services to wealthy individuals, families, trusts, foundations, and institutions.
Summary:
- The Family Office Sr. Client Service Associate will work with one or more 1919IC Portfolio Managers (PMs) and will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of individual clients, and institutional and trust portfolios.
- High-touch client service is a hallmark of 1919IC.
- The Family Office Sr. Client Service Associate has many years of experience working directly with clients and their other advisors; handles complex multi-generational family relationships, has superior knowledge of investment concepts and instruments, and can work with clients and prospects on financial and estate planning.
- The Family Office Sr. Client Service Associate must stay current on financial markets, income and transfer taxes, charitable and financial planning, and comply with firm policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with larger and more sophisticated client relationships anticipating their needs and resolving complex issues independently.
- Maintain direct telephone and written contact with clients and designated third parties (accountants, lawyers, trustees, etc.).
- Compose written correspondence to inform clients of portfolio activity.
- Utilize superior knowledge of investment products, operations, and the servicing requirements of clients to meet their unique needs.
- Recognize new opportunities for managing additional family money or obtaining referrals for new business altogether and collaborate with the PM or Business Development Executive to pursue these opportunities and referrals.
- Use independent judgment and analysis tools to prepare personalized reports for clients and prospects with respect to financial and estate planning.
- Find resources and contacts for clients.
- Attend client meetings, client events, and relevant conferences to keep informed of changes and developments in the Firm and the industry.
- Handle various portfolio administrative functions including but not limited to opening and terminating accounts; reviewing client billing; monitoring accounts by tracking cash, maturities, and settlements to ensure that funds are available to clients; instructing custodians to wire funds or prepare checks; implementing the sale of mutual funds; and determining instruments to sell to raise cash.
Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with clients and prospects.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent interpersonal and communication services.
- This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum Required: 10+ years’ experience in investment management, family office, trust or legal. Education and/or experience may run concurrently
- Systems & Technology
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience working with Advent APX and Moxy
- Working knowledge and competency with various analytical tools including FactSet formulas and databases, Morningstar Direct, and Bloomberg.
