AI & Operations

Aleta is an AI-native wealth management platform purpose-built for family offices. It reconciles data across every asset class and custodian into one open, structured foundation, giving the principal a verified, real-time view of total wealth and the team deep investment reporting, while its open architecture (API and MCP) lets an office build a best-of-breed stack and run its own AI agents on top. Born inside a family office and named Best Consolidated Reporting at the WealthBriefing Awards 2026 and Best Data Provider at the Family Wealth Report Awards 2026, Aleta is headquartered in New York with operations in Europe.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI agents connect to and query data sources securely and in a structured way. For a family office, an MCP layer over its wealth data means agents can work from verified, live information rather than exports or screenshots. It is a key part of what makes a data foundation genuinely AI-ready, and it is central to Aleta's open architecture.

The answer is open architecture. If your data sits behind one vendor's closed, all-in-one system, your AI progress can only move at that vendor's pace. Keeping data in a structured, open layer you control, accessible through an open API and an MCP (Model Context Protocol) layer built for AI agents, lets you build a best-of-breed stack and adopt new AI models and agents as they emerge. This is the principle around which platforms such as Aleta are built.

An open data layer is a foundation of reconciled, machine-readable data that any tool can reach through open APIs and protocols such as MCP. Closed platforms keep that same data locked inside their own interface. An open layer lets a family office assemble a best-of-breed stack, connecting whichever AI models and applications it wants, today and in the future, without re-platforming. In practice, the family office owns its data instead of renting access to it.

According to Ken of Aleta, a top-tier infrastructure comprises three interconnected layers: a bottom layer of clean, machine-readable, and reconciled data across every asset class; a middle connectivity layer of open APIs and protocols such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) that securely connect that data to any AI model; and a top layer of AI agents handling tasks like liquidity briefings, document processing, and scenario modelling.

If the underlying data is fragmented, messy, or incomplete, the AI will likely "hallucinate" (generate false or inaccurate information). Flashy AI tools and dashboards are only as reliable as the data they are pulling from.

Agentic tools are AI systems that can take actions on your behalf — not just analyse data or generate reports, but actually execute tasks like flagging anomalies, initiating workflows, or adjusting configurations. In a family office context, they handle routine operational tasks under human oversight, with governance guardrails and the kill switch as safety mechanisms.

AI is more likely to augment people than replace them. It can take on process-heavy, task-heavy work such as filing emails and folders, so the team can spend more time on conversations with the family. Adoption is still early, so the transition needs care.

Yes, when implemented with proper governance. The key is ensuring AI actions are transparent, auditable, and subject to human oversight. Simple's approach treats AI as a tool under governance — every agentic action is logged, reversible, and subject to the kill switch. We never deploy AI without the family office's explicit consent and understanding.

AI readiness is a family office's preparedness to adopt AI tools effectively and safely. It encompasses data quality (are your systems producing clean, structured data?), governance maturity (do you have policies for automated actions?), team capability (does your team understand AI's strengths and limits?), and infrastructure (are your systems API-connected and interoperable?).

Every AI action in Simple's tools is logged with a full audit trail — who authorised it, what triggered it, what it did, and what it changed. Actions are classified by risk level, with high-risk actions requiring human approval before execution. The kill switch provides an immediate override. Governance policies are configured per family office.

Simple Monitor, the core tool within Operate, is launching in 2026. Initial deployment will be available to families who have completed a Design or Build engagement. Broader availability will follow. Contact us to join the early access programme.
