In-House Family Office General Counsel, London
Confidential international family office / investment platform (via Edwards Gibson)
Edwards Gibson is searching for an in-house Family Office General Counsel (to c. £300k) for a substantial international family office and investment platform in London. The seat sits at the intersection of private wealth, tax and investment activity — wealth structuring, FO arrangements, tax-driven investment structures, co-investments, governance, succession, and eclectic FO legal issues (RE, hospitality, staffing, philanthropy). Targets a top-firm private-client tax lawyer (or tax lawyer with deep private-wealth/FO exposure); funds/co-invest familiarity helpful but not essential. Apply via Scott Gibson.
About the job
A substantial international family office and investment platform seeks a senior lawyer for a broad range of legal and tax matters arising from its principals, investment structures and wider business interests. Principals are successful entrepreneurs with a significant global investment platform plus substantial personal, commercial and philanthropic interests. Direct access to decision-makers and sophisticated cross-border exposure.
The role sits at the intersection of private wealth, tax and investment activity. Advise on wealth structuring, family-office arrangements, tax-driven investment structures, co-investments, governance, succession planning, and legal issues from a diverse international portfolio. Coordinate external advisers across jurisdictions on complex family and investment matters. Also cover eclectic FO legal issues: real estate acquisitions, construction, hospitality investments, staffing, philanthropic initiatives, operational matters and other bespoke projects requiring pragmatic commercial judgement. Closely involved in commercial decision-making as a trusted adviser beyond traditional legal execution.
Candidate profile — strong law firm credentials; likely either: - a private client tax lawyer with a top law firm background and significant experience advising entrepreneurs, family offices, UHNW individuals and privately owned businesses; or - a tax lawyer with substantial exposure to private wealth, investment structures and family-office-related matters
Experience of investment structures, private funds or co-investments beneficial; deep funds expertise not essential. Intellectually agile, commercially minded, comfortable across jurisdictions and disciplines; sound judgement; capable of managing external advisers and owning complex issues end-to-end.
