Managing Director, Finance & Operations, Single Family Office, San Francisco

A lean single family office supporting a hands-on technology-entrepreneur Principal is hiring a Managing Director, Finance & Operations. The mandate centres on legacy, estate planning and multi-generational wealth preservation across a complex structure of eight trusts, multiple properties, investment funds and other assets. This is an individual-contributor role reporting to the Principal and Controller, bridging finance, operations and compliance in a privacy-focused environment where scope is expected to expand.

The organisation is a lean single family office with a related investment team, supporting a highly successful, hands-on Principal who is a technology entrepreneur. The primary focus is legacy, estate planning and multi-generational wealth preservation across a complex structure spanning eight trusts, multiple properties, investment funds and other assets.

This is an individual-contributor position reporting to the Principal and Controller. Responsibilities include: - Portfolio management and coordination with investment managers - Alignment of investments with estate-planning objectives - Cash-flow forecasting - Bridging finance, operations and compliance functions - Working closely with external advisors and the Chief of Staff in a lean environment where scope is expected to expand

Ideal background: family office experience preferred; family office finance operations, hedge fund CFO/COO, legal/GC, or family-business backgrounds all considered. Discretion, high EQ, strong judgement and the ability to operate in a privacy-focused environment without ego. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field; MBA preferred.
