Chief of Staff – Family Office

The Client
Our client is a multi-faceted family office with leadership based in Los Angeles and New York City. The office manages a diversified platform spanning a private equity–style investment arm, corporate entities, and philanthropic initiatives. With a hands-on approach, the family office plays an active role in direct investments, business operations, and community impact. To strengthen execution and strategic alignment across these areas, the Principals are seeking a Chief of Staff to provide leverage, oversight, and coordination at the highest level.

The Opportunity
This position represents an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and strategic professional with experience in private equity, investment management, or family office operations. The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted partner to the Principals, providing strategic oversight, operational leadership, and cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will combine financial and strategic acumen with strong organizational and advisory skills, enabling seamless execution across investment, corporate, and nonprofit activities in a complex multi-entity environment.

Location
Remote (with preference for candidates based in Los Angeles or New York City metro areas; regular travel between both locations required)

Family Office Principals and Senior Leadership

The Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnering – Work closely with Principals and senior leadership to establish priorities, oversee key initiatives, and ensure alignment across investments, corporate operations, and nonprofit activities.
  • Operational Oversight – Design, implement, and refine processes that enhance execution, balancing investment discipline with operational flexibility across entities.
  • Investment Support – Provide strategic and analytical support to the private equity–style investment arm, including deal evaluation, diligence coordination, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Cross-Entity Coordination – Serve as a bridge across the family office’s investment, corporate, and nonprofit entities to ensure effective communication, reporting, and follow-through.
  • Board & Stakeholder Management – Assist with the preparation of board materials, investor updates, and stakeholder reporting to ensure clear, timely, and impactful communications.
  • Project Management – Lead and track cross-functional projects from inception to completion, ensuring accountability and delivery of results.
  • Advisor Role – Act as a sounding board and trusted counsel to leadership, anticipating needs, surfacing opportunities, and identifying potential risks.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a private equity firm, investment management platform, or family office strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment with competing priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong financial and strategic acumen with the ability to analyze investments, support transactions, and monitor portfolio performance.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; adept at managing stakeholders across investment, corporate, and nonprofit contexts.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined, with a demonstrated ability to streamline operations and drive execution.
  • Flexible, collaborative, and adaptive in balancing strategic oversight with tactical implementation.

Compensation:
A competitive base salary and performance-based bonus will be offered, commensurate with experience. The role is remote-first, with a preference for candidates in Los Angeles or New York City, and requires regular travel between both locations.
