Financial Analyst – Family Office

About Us

We are an opportunistic Chicago-based family office investing across multiple asset classes, with a core focus on real estate—particularly multifamily—and complementary exposure to industrial, development, and commercial properties.
Beyond real assets, our allocations span private equity, venture capital, public equities, and private credit. We move decisively where we see asymmetric return potential, guided by data, discipline, and entrepreneurial conviction.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to serve as the analytical engine driving both acquisitions and portfolio operations.
This individual will underwrite new investments, build scenario-driven models, and translate operating data into actionable insights. The role offers broad cross-asset exposure and a direct line of impact on investment decisions and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Acquisitions & Underwriting

  • Build and maintain financial models for multifamily (value-add, lease-up), industrial, development, and commercial opportunities, including cash flows, debt sizing, sensitivities, and waterfall analyses.

  • Lead diligence workstreams—reviewing rent rolls, T-12s, capex scopes, market comps, CoStar data, lender quotes, and synthesizing findings into Investment Committee (IC) memos.

  • Benchmark expected returns against underwriting standards; frame risks, break-even points, and key drivers informing go/no-go decisions.

Operations & Portfolio Analytics

  • Build and maintain monthly dashboards to track NOI, occupancy, rent growth, leasing velocity, capex progress, DSCR/LTV, and variances to budget or underwriting.

  • Reconcile operating data from property management systems (Yardi, RealPage, Entrata) with general ledger and bank activity to ensure accuracy.

  • Partner with the Asset Manager to identify underperformance early, design corrective action plans, and quantify expected impact.

  • Maintain rolling 13-week cash flows, covenant trackers, and lender reporting packages.

Research & Cross-Asset Support

  • Conduct market studies (supply/demand, absorption, wage and population trends) and monitor rate/credit conditions to inform refinancing and disposition timing.

  • Support private equity, venture, and public market investments with quick-turn analyses, comps, and structure modeling as needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clean, auditable models with assumptions supported by real evidence.

  • Fast, accurate monthly reporting with no surprises and clear, actionable insights.

  • Early identification of variance to plan, with quantified corrective measures.

  • Investment memos that are concise, decision-ready, and analytically sound.

Qualifications

  • 2–6+ years in real estate finance, transactions, investment banking, buy-side investing, or FP&A with direct experience in multifamily modeling.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (INDEX/XMATCH, dynamic arrays; no opaque macros or black boxes).

  • Working knowledge of Yardi, RealPage, or Entrata, and experience reconciling PM data to financial statements.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) or strong Excel dashboarding; familiarity with SQL/Python is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills; ability to distill complex data into the 3–5 insights that matter most.

  • High ownership mentality, strong analytical rigor, and low ego.

Why Join Us

  • Impact: Direct line to principals; your work drives investment decisions.

  • Breadth: Core focus on multifamily, plus exposure to industrial, development, and alternative asset strategies.

  • Growth: Learn the full investment life cycle—acquisition, operation, refinance, and disposition.

  • Upside: Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus; comprehensive benefits; potential for project-level participation for top performers.

  • Location: Chicago HQ (hybrid) with some travel to properties as needed.

Compensation

Competitive base salary + performance bonus, commensurate with experience.
