Family Office Accountant

The Client

AHS, a leading real estate firm, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Family Office Accountant to manage the accounting and financial reporting for its operations. This role is integral to ensuring the financial health and strategic management of the family office’s assets. The Family Office Accountant will report directly to the Principal and collaborate with external advisors to provide comprehensive financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee personal financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts; monitor performance against targets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance with UAE and international tax regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, legal advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Monitor daily cash flow and manage liquidity to meet financial obligations and investment opportunities.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
  • Track and reconcile investment portfolios, real estate holdings, and other personal assets.
  • Manage insurance policies, renewals, and claims related to personal and family assets.
  • Oversee personal banking activities, credit card reconciliations, and loan management.
  • Support estate planning, trust administration, and succession planning in coordination with legal advisors.
  • Handle expenses and financial planning related to yacht ownership and maintenance.
  • Manage household budgets and expenses for personal residences, including staff payroll, utilities, and renovations.
  • Track and manage expenses related to luxury vehicles, including maintenance, insurance, and registration.
  • Manage travel arrangements, including flight bookings, visa coordination, and itinerary budgeting.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling all financial and personal matters.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by the Principal or family members.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws, financial regulations, and investment trends.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with strong expertise in managing finances for high-net-worth individuals or families.
  • Strong knowledge of UAE tax laws, VAT, and international compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and strong analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and communication).
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
