About The Job:

  • The Family Office, based in St. Louis, MO caters to the diverse needs of a high-net-worth family.
  • This role requires a dynamic individual who can manage a range of tasks including Partnership Accounting, Tax Strategy, and Financial & Investment Analysis.
  • Most Family Office investments are through Private Equity and Venture Capital, with some direct investments.
  • The position offers highly flexible work hours and locations, accommodating both in-office, hybrid, and remote arrangements.
  • Remote work may entail initial travel to St. Louis, with anticipated reduced travel needs over time.

Requirements

10+ yrs accounting experience family office, public accounting firm, and/or an investment firm
Highly skilled in Partnership Accounting: managing and reporting the financial activities and ownership interests across the family office investment partnerships
Highly skilled in Tax Strategy: lead and/or support efforts related to income tax planning, investment tax strategies, estate planning, wealth transfer, trust and entity structuring, and more
Investment Reporting & Analysis: keen ability to partner with investment committee / investment managers to understand, report on, and analyze investment performance.
Experience working with high net worth individuals and/or families
Experience with large, automated, integrated accounting systems
Demonstrates deep integrity and respects confidentiality
Exhibits strong attention to detail and thrives in orderly environments

Possesses strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Works well under pressure and meets deadlines
Excels in multitasking and organization
Experienced in Microsoft Excel (Vlookup, macros, pivot tables, etc.)

Familiar with various investment asset classes
Strong GAAP and tax principles understanding
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA a plus but not required

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all partnership accounting efforts such as capital account management, income allocation, tax reporting (K1s), financial statement preparation, and more
  • Own Investment Performance Reporting, Financial Analysis of given investment(s), and to provide easily digestible analysis, insights and recommendations as needed
  • Lead and/or support income tax planning, investment tax strategies, estate planning, wealth transfer, trust and entity structuring, tax efficient asset allocation, as well as tax compliance & reporting
  • Manages accounting, tax records, and monthly reporting for firm and affiliated family-owned businesses
  • Produces monthly personal financial statements for firm clients
  • Ensures thorough understanding and maintenance of the general ledger structure
  • Conducts regular reconciliation of bank, custodial, and external manager accounts
  • Maintains detailed accounting records for complex investment partnerships
  • Provides detailed financial analysis and responds to inquiries
  • Coordinates cash transfers for various entities via wire, ACH, and checks
  • Collaborates with external professionals on tax planning strategies
  • Gathers data for tax returns and quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Prepares routine personal and corporate tax filings
  • Monitors and analyzes work for efficiency and accuracy
  • Assists in implementing new procedures to enhance workflow
  • Recruits and trains a team to manage daily office tasks while contributing individually to office and family functions

Pay: $180,000 – $190,000 a year
