Full Job Description

  • Our family office is embedded within our principal’s operating business, which serves as the parent company for a diverse portfolio of businesses located in the United States and abroad.
  • Over the past decade, our family office has played a crucial role in managing family affairs, particularly servicing the lifestyle and concierge needs of our principals.
  • However, following the sale of our family’s primary operating business in 2023, our family office is undergoing a significant transformation, including a desire to scale and become a sustainable, multi-generational family office for future generations.
  • Our rising generation of family members currently range in age from their late 20s to late 30s and are beginning to have families of their own.
  • This period of renewal provides a unique opportunity to redefine the office’s structure and objectives with a fresh perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trust and relationships with rising generation family members and develop a family service function that can support their evolving needs, supported by clearly documented policies and procedures.
  • Support the refresh and build-out of the family’s Family Constitution and the operationalization of family governance structures.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver educational programs for rising generation family members (i.e., G2 and beyond), including financial literacy, beneficiary education, ensuring they meet the family’s standards and objectives.
  • Proactively engage with rising generation family members to support financial planning and analysis, estate planning, tax planning/compliance activities, overall risk management (e.g., insurance needs), and property/home management needs.
  • Organize, plan, and support eh execution of family governance (e.g., Family Assembly, Family Council) meetings, including reporting and communication between generations, ensuring all documentation is maintained according to the established content management policies and protocols.
  • Collaborate with external service providers to enhance the quality and effectiveness of educational and development programs offered to family members.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for rising generation family members, addressing their needs and coordinating their interactions with the family office and relevant trustee(s).
  • Provide support and guidance to rising generation family members, ensuring they are well-informed and engaged with the family offices services and initiatives.

Experience:

  • 7 years of experience within a single or multi-family offices family services or client services function.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing family governance frameworks such as Family Councils, Family Assemblies, and Family Constitutions; knowledge of best practices with respect to structuring governance to support multi-generational family enterprises.
  • Experience with and sensitivity to the complexities of multi-generational family relationships; ability to navigate and mediate conflicts, build trust, and foster unity among family members.

Minimum Skills and/or Knowledge Required:

  • Proven ability to navigate complex family dynamics and maintain harmony within the family structure.
  • Proficiency in managing the interpersonal aspects of family offices, including communication strategies that respect individual perspectives while promoting collective goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with family members and other stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of family office operations and the needs of high-net-worth families, including an understanding of tax concepts and structures commonly encountered in family office settings (e.g., individuals, trusts, investment partnerships, exempt organizations, international interests).
  • Strong project management and organizational management skills, with a proven track record of managing strategic initiatives.
  • Familiarity with educational programs and personal service delivery within a family office context
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.

Pay: $88.9K – $113K a year
