Investment Analyst – Family Office

The Client
Our client is a privately held family office located in Melbourne CBD. The office manages the wealth, investments, and philanthropic endeavors of a high-net-worth family, with a core mission to preserve and grow generational wealth. Their approach is defined by disciplined long-term investing, values-aligned decision-making, and a diversified portfolio that spans public and private equities, venture capital, real estate, and alternative assets.

The Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investment Analyst to join a dynamic and collaborative team. The successful candidate will begin with a focus on investment operations, gaining deep exposure to portfolio infrastructure and reporting, with a clear path toward assuming broader front-office responsibilities. The Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operational integrity of the investment portfolio, including trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain and update detailed investment records and assist in managing portfolio cash flows.
  • Prepare and distribute regular performance, risk, and exposure reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with custodians, fund managers, accountants, and service providers to ensure accurate and timely data and reporting.
  • Assist in ensuring adherence to internal investment mandates and external regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives, including automation of reporting systems.
  • Over time, support investment decision-making through research and analysis across asset classes and geographies.
  • Conduct due diligence on direct investments, funds, and co-investment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain financial models; prepare investment memos and participate in presentations to the investment committee.
  • Assist in portfolio monitoring, rebalancing, and performance evaluation.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in both investment operations and investment analysis highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; familiarity with investment systems or portfolio management tools is advantageous.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • CFA designation or progress toward it is highly valued.
