Primary Responsibilities:
- Support key efforts across the investment lifecycle, including deal evaluation, analysis, diligence and execution. Develop thorough recommendation memos for new investments.
- Provide support and monitoring of the existing portfolio, company progress and performance.
- Provide company board support, preparation and follow-up as needed.
- Build, update, and maintain financial models.
- Conduct analysis on market mapping, competitive landscape dynamics, technology and innovation trends.
- Conduct scientific and market due diligence on opportunities.
- Provide detailed notes, reports and presentations.
- Work closely with advisors and key opinion leaders to develop and distill diligence/market insights.
- Conduct interviews with market stakeholders to answer opportunity-specific questions, identify industry-transforming trends and follow up with concrete recommendations.
- Work closely with the legal and operations/reporting team on CNS focused investments, including terms negotiation.
- Provide general support to the team.
- Perform other tasks and duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
- PhD from an accredited university in the life sciences is ideal. PhD in neuroscience is a plus.
- Undergrad education in science is required.
- Investment experience in venture or pharma preferred.
- Excellent project management, organizational and coordination skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop effective relationships in the life sciences community.
- Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to be flexible and manage multiple projects simultaneously. A great listener with the ability to communicate and collaborate with people of diverse disciplines.
- Demonstrated initiative and independence to identify short and long-term needs, creatively formulate plans with cross-functional input, efficiently achieve timely decisions/alignment.
- Superb quantitative and analytical skills and exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills essential.
- Strong work ethic and great attitude.
- Ideal candidate will have a passion for learning and be curious.
- Strong data collection, research, writing, and analytical capabilities.
- Self-starter who is comfortable working in ambiguity.
- Detail-oriented with strong project management skills.
- Willingness to perform duties outside of the job description as part of a lean team.
